Because Kiteboarding is an extreme sport you need a lesson to be safe and save yourself from injuries and embarrassment on and of the water. The kite has a lot of power and can be very dangerous; a lesson will teach you how to safely harness this power. Mastering the skills of flying the kite and understanding the fundamentals of the wind is 90 % of the learning the sport.
What do you learn in the lesson?
The first thing you will learn the safe wind directions for kiteboarding in your area. I will also teach you how to interpret wind speeds in terms of the appropriate kite to fly in specific conditions. Next, you will learn the kite’s power zones and how to steer the kite. I will also teach you important safety information including: self rescue, self launching, and self landing. The main goal of the lesson is for you to become more familiar with Kiteboarding equipment, appropriate kiting conditions, and your ability to control and safely fly the kite.
How much is the lesson?
The first lesson is 3 hours and is an inclusive introduction to the sport of Kiteboarding. The cost is $300.00. Additional follow-up lessons start at $75.00 per hour based on the intensity, type, and location of the lesson.
Do I need to be in good shape to Kiteboard?
Kiteboarding is a sport that many people can learn and you do not have to be an athlete. However, as with any sport the better physical condition you are in the easier and faster you will learn. Please note, having confidence in the water and being a proficient swimmer is mandatory!
What should I bring to the lesson?
Sunglasses and water and sandals (because the sand can be very hot in the summer months). All the Kiteboarding gear for the lesson will be provided.
Where is the Lesson?
The lessons are taught at Delray Beach, on the south end of the beach at the beach shack. Specific location information, based on wind direction, will be explained when booking your lesson.

After my lesson what else can I do to get better at Kiteboarding?
After you have learned the basic mechanics of the sport, you can go to your local kite spot and watch other kiter’s set-up, launch, ride and land the kite. This will really help you visualize all the steps to becoming a rider.
